Dennen’s Victorian Farmhouse Wins Beautification and Preservation Award

Mendocino Coast Chamber of Commerce Bestows Coveted Honor Upon Historic Inn

LITTLE RIVER, CA – Dennen’s Victorian Farmhouse was presented with the 2006 Commercial Beautification & Preservation Award by the Mendocino Coast Chamber of Commerce during their Awards Dinner at The Ledford House Restaurant in Albion.  Nominees were judged on how their commercial property has become an outstanding asset to the community because of construction, remodeling, renovation, or beautification.

“Originally built in 1877, Dennen’s Victorian Farmhouse stood out because of a recent restoration and the historical finds that were discovered in the walls of the house,” stated Debra De Graw, CEO, Mendocino Coast Chamber of Commerce.  “Those finds contained in a circa late 1800s time capsule included leather shoes, a key tag, bow tie, fabric, children’s book, music book, tide table, broad gauge railroad schedule, and four letters, one still folded in an envelope from Richard Dennen to his parents, John and Dora!”

Dennen’s Victorian Farmhouse features period antiques and exquisite redwood woodworking, which is complemented by the beautiful grounds that surround the inn.  Two acres of carefully maintained gardens and landscape showcase native plants and trees that attract deer, quail and other wild birds.

Located off Highway 1, about two miles south of Mendocino, Dennen’s Victorian Farmhouse was the inspiration for Thomas Kinkade’s painting, “Home is Where the Heart is II.”  Featuring full breakfasts delivered to guest rooms each morning and their signature concierge service, the inn has 11 guest rooms and suites, plus a cottage, with feather beds and private bathrooms, some rooms have spa tubs and most have wood burning fireplaces.  Dennen’s Victorian Farmhouse has been inspected and certified by the California Association of Bed & Breakfast Inns (CABBI), meeting their high standards of quality, and has the AAA Diamond Hotel Rating.
