SIERRA RAILROAD FEATURES RAIL & RAFT TRIP
All Aboard Train and Raft for Some Good Old-Fashioned Summer Fun
April 17, 2006
OAKDALE, CA – The Sierra Railroad Company and Sunshine Rafting Adventures have teamed up to offer guests a truly unique way to experience California’s Gold Country this summer, via train and raft.
The Rail & Raft Trip begins in Oakdale (located in the Sierra Nevada foothills 90 miles east of San Francisco) aboard the historic Sierra Railroad Daylight Train. Passengers enjoy a leisurely two hour ride and a delicious box lunch as they travel through the Stanislaus River Valley. Following the rail excursion, Sunshine Rafting Adventures takes over with an easy guide-assisted float trip down the Stanislaus River. The float trip from Knights Ferry to Orange Blossom Park offers rafters an ideal vantage point to view scenic spots such as “Two Bluffs” volcanic area and “Lover’s leap,” plus a variety of wildlife and several species of birds.
“With above normal rainfall and a promising Sierra snowmelt, this season’s Rail & Raft Trip will showcase a picturesque oak-studded landscape along the train route, plus a steady Stanislaus River flow,” said Christopher G. Hart, President, Sierra Railroad Dinner Train. “No other excursion train in the West offers such a unique experience,” Hart added.
The Rail & Raft Trip runs on weekends from May 27 through September 3, 2006. Cost: $85 per person. For reservations and more information call 1-800-866-1690 or visit www.SierraRailroad.com.
The Sierra Railroad’s family of California excursion trains includes the 121-year old Skunk Train (Fort Bragg and Willits); Sacramento RiverTrain (Woodland), the nation’s newest dinner train; and the Sierra Railroad Dinner Train (Oakdale), one of the top dinner trains in the West.
