Hampton Inn & Suites. In November 2006 a Hampton Inn & Suites is scheduled to open at 110 North Sunrise in Roseville. The four-story property will have 85 rooms and suites and feature the valued Hampton Inn amenities: complimentary On the House™ hot breakfast and On the Run Breakfast Bags™ (Mon.-Fri.), high speed Internet access in all guest rooms, wireless access in meeting rooms, and coffee and tea in the lobby. Crush 29. In June 2006, the Roseville dining scene is expected to grow by one with the debut of Crush 29. The restaurant will feature a wine country décor and include a round bar, three large murals of the Napa Valley, two wine caves, which will seat up to 50 people, a wine library for 12, open display kitchen, and two fireplaces. The menu has a Napa Valley influence – California fresh cuisine with an organic twist – and includes favorites such as seafood, steaks, rotisserie, gourmet pizza, pasta, and homemade desserts. Lincoln Produce Market. In December 2005, Lincoln welcomed a new business to the retail scene with the addition of Lincoln Produce Market, located at 415 A Street (corner of McBean Park Drive and East Avenue). The Lincoln Produce Market features fresh, and when available, locally grown, in-season produce; a selection of fine wine and microbrews; artisan cheese and gourmet foods; and freshly prepared gourmet meals to eat in or takeout. The café menu features salads, soups, hot and cold sandwiches, and panini. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Synergy Sports. A new indoor athletic complex – Synergy Sports – is taking shape at 1091 Tinker Road in Rocklin. Conveniently located just off Highway 65 between the Westfield Galleria at Roseville and Thunder Valley Casino, Synergy Sports’ first tenant – American Powerhouse Trampoline & Tumbling – opened in January. The trampoline and tumbling facility features state-of-the-art equipment including a full size cheerleading spring floor, ten trampolines, four different tumbling surfaces, two double minis, self-contained preschool trampoline and tumbling area, and a dry land diving center. Classes are also offered for all ages and skill levels, and the facility is available for birthday parties, field trips, play group outings, and day camps. In June 2006, a new indoor basketball facility with eight courts will join Synergy Sports. The basketball venue will be home to the local Hot Shots program and will offer adult play and tournaments. Strikes Family Entertainment Center and Coach’s Restaurant. Scheduled to open in August 2006, Strikes will offer bowling for leagues and open play at its location at 5681 Lonetree Boulevard in Rocklin. Strikes will be available for team building, sports team celebrations and birthday parties for all ages. Features include Coach’s Restaurant, a full service sports themed restaurant, state-of-the-art equipment, lighting and sound, corporate and banquet facilities for large and small groups, and an arcade and amusement are for children of all ages. The Maidu Interpretive Center & Historic Site. "When Rocks Collide" is a smashing new exhibit scheduled to open at the Maidu Interpretive Center on February 25 and run through the summer 2006. The “When Rocks Collide” exhibit explores the relationship of local geology and native culture. Informative panels provide information about geologic processes as well as cultural uses of stone for tools, ceremony, trade and more. Hands-on elements provide interest for children and families. Also opening on February 25 is the “Ancient Echoes” photography exhibit featuring images by Daniel Bianchetta. Bianchetta’s radiant petroglyph (rock art) photographs come to life through his printing process and unique way of viewing these ancient images of stone. “Ancient Echoes” is scheduled to run through April 30. Magic Circle Theatre. The Magic Circle Theatre presents the world premiere of Evangelize, a gospel musical written by Lisa Lacy with musical composition by Charles Cooper. Evangelize is set in the backdrop of the Black Baptist Church that tells the story of Sister Angela’s efforts to become a minister over the objections of her pastor and his male-dominated congregation. Created by the same team who gave us The Martin Luther King Project. Performances are at the Tower Theatre in downtown Roseville on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Admission: General admission - $20; Seniors/Students - $18; and Children (11 years and under) - $10. Sacramento Metropolitan Orchestra Performs in Roseville. The Adventure Christian Church at 6401 Stanford Ranch Road in Roseville is the venue for two upcoming performances by the Sacramento Metropolitan Orchestra. On April 1 and 2, Carter Nice will conduct the orchestra with guest Ivana Bilic on marimba. The concert features Beethoven: Egmont Overture; Erkki-Sven Tour: Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra (U.S. premiere); and Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 3 in A minor “Scottish,” Op. 56. On May 13 and 14, Carter Nice once again conducts the Sacramento Metropolitan Orchestra as it performs a Tchaikovsky extravaganza – Romeo and Juliet, Fantasy Overture in B minor; Serenade for Strings in C major, Op. 48; and Symphony No.4 in F minor, Op. 36. Margaret Azevedo Community Park. Rocklin’s fourth community park – Margaret Azevedo Community Park – is expected to be in full operation in spring 2006. Located at 1900 Sioux Street, the park will feature two lighted soccer fields, a full-size softball/baseball diamond, a youth playground, restroom and concession building, and off-street parking. 16TH Annual Placer County Strawberry Festival, April 14-16, 2006. Highlights of the three-day Strawberry Festival include The Little Mister & Miss Strawberry Contest (open to children 3 to 5 years old), strawberry recipe contest, cooking demonstrations, Strawberry Alley, Kids Fun Zone, Strawberry Pancake Breakfast, Spaghetti Western Feed, Taste of Placer County, arts and crafts booths, and musical entertainment. Looking Ahead
The following items are new tourism developments scheduled in the near future in Placer Valley.
2007 Amateur Softball Association (ASA) 12 and Under Girls Softball Nationals. Placer Valley has been awarded the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) 12 and Under Girls Softball Nationals for 2007. Placer Valley Tourism, in cooperation with the Greater Sacramento Softball Association (GSSA), beat out 12 other communities in the United States to win this prestigious event. Approximately 100 teams are expected to compete in the softball competition scheduled for July 31 through August 6, 2007. Conference Center and Embassy Suites. A public-private partnership between the City of Roseville and Kobra Properties is expected to bring a 35,000-square-foot conference center and two hotels to Roseville. Plans call for a conference center, capable of handling catered, sit-down events for up to 2,000 people, plus a 250-room Embassy Suites Hotel. Completion dates TBD. Reason Farms Environmental Preserve. The City of Roseville has purchased two parcels of land totaling approximately 1,700 acres that can be used for recreation and preservation. In concept, the Reason Farms Environmental Preserve would be open to the public from April through October and include: nature trails and nature center; non-motorized boating pond and marina; primitive camping; outdoor adventure area; picnic pavilions; equestrian facilities; special event area; dog park; blinds for viewing wildlife; model airplane field; Swainson Hawk preserve; and vernal pool and wetland habitat preserve.
